Parenting Teens

Being a parent is a job which nobody can ever prepare you for. The early years are fun and exciting. There are new discoveries every day. Each journey is an adventure. As they grow and begin to assert their independence, new skills are needed.

 

Through audio/video tapes, small group discussion and role play, the course aims to equip you to manage and even enjoy the unique challenges of parenthood.

 

Course Outline

  • Dealing with misbehaviour - How to avoid taking the bait and getting “wound up” by your teenager

  • Listening to your teenager - Basic listening skills which can be used in any situation.

  • The art of encouragement - The power of positive words

  • How to handle conflict - Some strategies for dealing with conflict

  • Discipline - Appropriate use of discipline for teenage years

  • Healthy communication - Practical ways to improve communication
