Our History
Our story began in 1989 when some members of Shirley Baptist Church came together to worship God in Olton.
They met at Langley Secondary School and have been worshipping there ever since, though we now also have an office building and meeting space called The Branch on the Warwick Road.
We connect to the wider Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB) and the Heart of England Baptist Association (HEBA) for resources and support.
We support several people, charities and causes, including Agape, a national mission movement; Solihull Welcome and Restore who offer support for asylum seekers; Shirley Family Support Centre who work with women facing pregnancy issues; two chaplains who work with Churches and Industry Group Birmingham (CIGB); Chaplaincy Plus who support Christian professionals working in the city centre; Baptists Together Home Mission which funds mission through local Baptist churches across the UK; BMS World Mission who reach spiritually and materially underdeveloped communities around the world; and Christian Aid.
We seek to show God’s love to Olton in partnership with three other local churches – Solihull United Reformed Church, The Friary Catholic Church and St Margaret’s Parish Church.
